The Friendliest Darn Tavern In Town!
OUR HISTORY
Hans’s Place Tavern is a neighborhood tavern on South Tacoma Way, owning a part of the rich history the city of Tacoma has. Our tavern’s beginnings date back to the early 1940s, when original owner Hans Hanson opened Hans’s Tavern. It is unclear the exact year Mr. Hanson opened our local’s favorite tavern, but city guides suggest it was 1940. Most folks will agree that few things compare to joining friends down at the neighborhood tavern for warm hospitality, a cold brew, and a hearty meal. At Hans’s Place, we’ve been the neighborhood spot for Tacomans to relax, converse, and revel with one another since the 1940s. Lots of things have changed since then, but plenty has stayed the same — like our fresh oysters, fresh-cut fries, and the best chicken in the city. Socialize, quench your thirst and satisfy your appetite with us at Hans’s Place Tavern, where strangers leave as friends and friends feel like family.
